Why Nieuw Statendam, specifically
Nieuw Statendam is the ship where Pinnacle Class stopped being new and started being refined.
She kept Music Walk and the World Stage, but Holland America used the second ship in the class to add something Koningsdam doesn't have: a collection of more than 150 original artworks, treated as a floating gallery rather than hotel décor.
The bigger tell is what she doesn't have anymore. Nieuw Statendam replaced the original Culinary Arts Center with a dedicated Club Orange restaurant — a built-in space for suite guests and Club Orange members, not a shared room repurposed for the upgrade.
On a line whose premium tier is famously understated next to the big suite enclaves elsewhere, that's a meaningful step up.
