Why Rotterdam, specifically
Rotterdam is the seventh Holland America ship to carry the name — a lineage that goes back to the line's earliest transatlantic era.
Princess Margriet of the Netherlands christened this one in 2022, after an October 2021 maiden transatlantic crossing. It was her fifth turn as a Holland America godmother.
Like her sisters, Rotterdam has the Rolling Stone Rock Room on Music Walk (Lincoln Center Stage, which she launched with, closed fleetwide in 2023).
She also carries the freshest run of Holland America's Entertainment Evolution program: the new Vivace string ensemble, the Dam Band, and the regional-soloist rotation that follows wherever she happens to be sailing.
Her real job, though, is range.
As the newest, largest Pinnacle ship, Rotterdam tends to get the assignments that need the newest hardware for the longest stretch. Think Grand Voyages, Panama Canal transits, and the kind of multi-week itinerary that's the sharpest expression of "the destination is the product" in the whole fleet.

Cabins
Staterooms carry the class's usual high proportion of verandahs and calm, classic design, updated with the latest materials and finishes available at her 2021 delivery.
Family oceanview staterooms are available, matching Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam.
The premium tiers
Neptune and Pinnacle suites add the concierge Neptune Lounge, the same as her sisters.
Club Orange is available as a per-person daily upgrade. Like Koningsdam and Nieuw Statendam, she has a dedicated Club Orange restaurant.

Pinnacle Grill, Canaletto, Tamarind, Rudi's Sel de Mer and the Morimoto by Sea Sushi Bar, alongside the Dining Room, Lido Market, Dive-In and the Grand Dutch Café — unchanged from the rest of the class.
Her interiors were designed by Tihany Design in partnership with Yran & Storbraaten, giving the dining venues the freshest execution of the Pinnacle-class look.
What plays at night
Rotterdam runs the Rolling Stone Rock Room — the same classic-rock room her sisters carry — alongside the standard B.B. King's Blues Club and Billboard Onboard.
She's a flagship for Entertainment Evolution: the new Vivace string ensemble, an expanded Dam Band role, six revitalized World Stage productions, and the regional-soloist rotation, tuned to wherever she's actually sailing that week.

Rotterdam handles the fleet's longer, more far-flung voyages — Grand Voyages, Panama Canal transits and extended repositioning crossings. Northern Europe summers out of Rotterdam are mixed in as well.
