01 Information You Provide to Us
Some information only reaches us because you choose to share it — for example, when you submit a contact form or quote request, or email us directly at hello@seaboundjourneys.com. Depending on how you reach out, this may include your name, email address, phone number, travel dates, cabin or budget preferences, and any other details you choose to include in a message. If you're asking us to research, quote, or book a trip on your behalf, we may collect additional details needed for that, such as passenger names — we ask for that directly when it's actually needed, not as a condition of browsing the Site.
Browsing the Site on its own doesn't require you to give us any contact information.
02 Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, the Site and its service providers automatically collect certain information when you visit, including your IP address and general device information (browser type, operating system, device type); pages viewed, links clicked, and time spent on a page; and the site or search engine that referred you. Our analytics provider may also derive an approximate location — generally city- or region-level, not precise GPS — from this information. When you use a calculator or one of our Fit tools, we collect the inputs you enter in order to generate a result for you.
We use this information in aggregate, statistical form.
03 How We Use It
We use the information described above to respond to your inquiry and provide travel-advisor services if you've asked for them; operate, maintain, and improve the Site, including its calculators and guides; understand, in aggregate, how visitors use the Site, so we know what's actually helpful; detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security issues; correctly attribute a booking or referral when it happens through an affiliate link; and comply with applicable law and enforce our Terms of Use when required.
We keep information you've given us for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to you, provide any requested services, and meet our legal and business record-keeping obligations. We use reasonable safeguards to protect it, but no method of transmission or storage over the internet can be guaranteed completely secure.
04 Third Parties
We do not sell personal information for money. Running the Site and our travel-advisory business does involve sharing certain information with the people and services that help us operate. Depending on the circumstances, information may be shared with:
- Service providers who host the Site, send email on our behalf, or provide analytics, under obligations to handle information appropriately;
- Travel suppliers — cruise lines, insurers, tour operators — when you've asked us to research, quote, or book travel on your behalf, to the extent necessary to do that;
- Affiliate networks and partners, for the limited purpose of tracking and attributing a referral;
- Law enforcement or other parties, where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Seabound Journeys, our visitors, or others.
Each of these only receives the information necessary for the purpose described — for example, an insurer only receives what's needed to generate your quote.
05 Cookies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies — including Google Analytics — to understand how visitors use the Site and, where affiliate links are involved, to correctly attribute a referral. Our Cookie Policy covers the categories we use and how to control or disable them through your browser; it's part of this policy by reference.
06 Contact & Changes
This policy applies to seaboundjourneys.com. It does not apply to the websites of cruise lines, insurers, tour operators, or other companies we link to or work with — those companies have their own privacy practices, which we encourage you to review separately.
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent.
