02

How the Grills system works

Cunard’s defining structural difference from every other line on Seabound: which restaurant you can walk into is decided by your stateroom, not your wallet at the door.

Access to Britannia Club Restaurant, Princess Grill Restaurant, and Queens Grill Restaurant on Queen Anne is decided by stateroom category — not loyalty tier, and not a paid add-on package. Each one is included in the fare for guests booked into the qualifying accommodation grade, and none of the three carries a cover charge. None should be read as a specialty restaurant, and this guide never lists any of them under both Included and Suite & Restricted Dining.

Elsewhere on Seabound, “included” dining usually means one restaurant open to everyone, and paid dining means a cover-charge specialty book open to anyone who pays. On Queen Anne, three of the four full-service restaurants are included in the fare — which one you can walk into is simply set by your cabin.

A note on the Golden Lion

The Golden Lion pub is included in the cruise fare on every Cunard ship, but not every item on its menu is: a passenger-confirmed account — not just the official listing, which describes it simply as “Included” — establishes that select menu items carry an additional charge. This guide never describes the entire Golden Lion menu as complimentary, and never splits it into two separate venues; it’s one pub, with mixed pricing, the same way on all four Queens.

Four permanent specialty restaurants, four genuine cuisine identities

Queen Anne runs a dining architecture the other three Queens don’t: no Verandah, no rotating themed-buffet program — and in their place, four permanent restaurants that run every night of every sailing, each with a genuinely distinct cuisine identity.

Specialty — Standard · Mediterranean

Tramonto

Mediterranean, not narrowed to a single national cuisine

Queen Anne exclusive

A permanent Mediterranean restaurant, running every night of every sailing. Additional cover charge applies, with no current reliable numeric figure to publish; pre-booking through My Cunard saves roughly 10%.

Specialty — Experience · Japanese

Aji Wa

A sushi bar and a tasting-menu/omakase format, in one restaurant

Queen Anne exclusive

Aji Wa combines a sushi bar with a tasting-menu/omakase-style dinner format, with sake and beverage pairing where applicable — one restaurant with more than one dining format inside it, not two separate venues. Additional cover charge applies.

Specialty — Standard · Indian

Aranya

A genuine cuisine-format differentiator, not generalized to “Asian”

Queen Anne exclusive

A permanent Indian restaurant — one of the more distinctive rooms in Cunard’s current fleet-wide roster. Additional cover charge applies.

Specialty — Standard · steakhouse & seafood

Sir Samuel’s

“Land and ocean” — Queen Anne’s own concept, not a Verandah repeat

Queen Anne exclusive

A steakhouse-and-seafood restaurant, distinct from The Verandah found on Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, and Queen Elizabeth. Being steak-forward doesn’t make it equivalent to The Verandah — it’s Queen Anne’s own current concept. Additional cover charge applies.

No Verandah, no Dinner at the Lido — a different architecture, not a missing feature

Queen Anne does not carry The Verandah, and she does not run the Dinner at the Lido/Kings Court rotating buffet program found on the other three Queens. Neither is carried over to her page by assumption, and neither absence is framed here as a function of her being the newest Queen.

In their place, she runs Tramonto, Aji Wa, Aranya, and Sir Samuel’s as permanent restaurants, every night of every sailing — a different specialty-dining architecture entirely, not a lighter or newer version of the other three ships’ setup. This is the actual, current product driving her fleet-leading Specialty Dining (8.9) and Quality Ceiling (9.0) scores, anchored specifically in those four restaurants rather than in any general claim about Cunard being a luxury line.

07

Suite & Restricted Dining — 9.1, flat across the fleet

Suite & Restricted Dining scores 9.1 on Queen Anne — identical across all four Queens, not an average that happens to land the same. Access to Britannia Club Restaurant, Princess Grill Restaurant, and Queens Grill Restaurant is tied to accommodation grade, each comes with dedicated tables and its own service style, and in-suite dining privileges strengthen at each grade above standard Britannia.

Room service on Queen Anne also scales with accommodation grade: Britannia-grade cabins get complimentary breakfast-in-bed selections, with other room-service items potentially carrying a charge depending on what’s ordered. Britannia Club adds stronger included in-room benefits. Princess Grill and Queens Grill guests get materially stronger in-suite dining privileges, and Queens Grill guests specifically can order in-suite from the Queens Grill restaurant’s own menu. This is folded into the 9.1 above, not scored as a separate venue.

The Seabound rule
A flat figure — because the product is flat, not because the math was smoothed over.

Suite & Restricted Dining reads 9.1 on Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Anne alike. No page in this guide implies Queen Anne runs a stronger or weaker restricted-dining system than her sisters — the confirmed architecture behind the number is identical, fleet-wide.

Quick answers

Why aren’t Britannia Club, Princess Grill, and Queens Grill counted as specialty restaurants on Queen Anne?

Because access is decided by stateroom category, not by a cover charge. Britannia Club Restaurant, Princess Grill Restaurant, and Queens Grill Restaurant are each included in the fare for guests booked into the qualifying accommodation grade — not add-on packages, and not tied to loyalty tier. That’s Cunard’s defining structural difference from every other line we've scored: elsewhere, paid dining means a cover-charge specialty book open to everyone who pays; on Queen Anne, three of the four full-service restaurants are included, and which one you can walk into is set by your cabin. This guide never lists any of the three under both Included and Suite & Restricted Dining — each gets one tag, Suite-Access Restricted, and nothing is double-counted.

Why doesn’t Queen Anne have a Verandah restaurant or a Dinner at the Lido program?

Because she runs a genuinely different specialty-dining architecture, not a lighter version of the other three Queens’ setup. Queen Anne has no Verandah steakhouse and doesn’t run the Dinner at the Lido/Kings Court rotating buffet program at all. In their place, she carries four permanent specialty restaurants — Tramonto, Aji Wa, Aranya, and Sir Samuel’s — each running every night of every sailing, rather than a steakhouse plus an occasional themed pop-up night. This isn’t framed as a function of Queen Anne being newer; it’s the current, confirmed product on board today, and it’s the reason her Specialty Dining (8.9) and Quality Ceiling (9.0) lead the fleet.

Is everything at the Golden Lion pub really included in the fare?

Most of it, but not all of it. Core pub fare at the Golden Lion is included in the cruise fare on all four Queens, and that’s confirmed by more than Cunard’s own official page — a passenger account independently confirms that select menu items carry an additional charge. This guide never describes the entire Golden Lion menu as complimentary, and never splits the pub into two separate venues over it — it’s one pub, with mixed pricing, the same way on every ship in the fleet.

Why does Suite & Restricted Dining score exactly 9.1 on Queen Anne, same as the other three Queens?

Because the underlying system is confirmed identical fleet-wide, and this guide treats that as one flat figure rather than an average that happens to land the same. Access to Britannia Club Restaurant, Princess Grill Restaurant, and Queens Grill Restaurant is tied to accommodation grade on every Cunard ship, each comes with dedicated tables of its own, and in-suite dining privileges strengthen at each grade — Britannia Club above standard Britannia, and Princess Grill/Queens Grill materially above that, with Queens Grill guests able to order in-suite from the Grill restaurant’s own menu. No page in this guide implies Queen Anne has a stronger or weaker restricted-dining system than her sisters; the score doesn’t either.

What makes Queen Anne’s four specialty restaurants different from each other?

Each carries its own genuine cuisine identity, not a shared theme with different names. Tramonto is Mediterranean. Aji Wa is Japanese, combining a sushi bar with a tasting-menu/omakase-style format in one restaurant, with sake and beverage pairing where applicable — one restaurant with more than one dining format, not two venues. Aranya is Indian. Sir Samuel’s is a steakhouse-and-seafood concept — described on this ship as “land and ocean” — and it’s a distinct current concept, not a repeat of The Verandah found on the other three Queens. All four are permanent restaurants running every night, not rotating pop-ups.

Why does Queen Anne lead the Cunard fleet with 8.6 on the Seabound Dining Score?

Her weighted total comes to 8.550, published as 8.6/10 — ahead of Queen Mary 2 (8.2), Queen Elizabeth (8.1), and pre-refit Queen Victoria (8.0). The lead comes from her permanent four-restaurant specialty bench — Tramonto, Aji Wa, Aranya, and Sir Samuel’s — which drives her fleet-leading Specialty Dining (8.9) and Quality Ceiling (9.0) scores, anchored specifically in those four restaurants rather than in any general claim about Cunard being a luxury line. This isn’t framed as a function of her being the newest Queen; it’s the current, confirmed richness of her roster.
