MSC's real strengths are value and its premium tier. Meraviglia Class

MSC Meraviglia (2017) and Bellissima (2019) introduced the signature Galleria — a 315-foot covered indoor promenade beneath a 262-foot LED dome, which is the same dome the stretched Plus ships carry — plus original acrobatic productions in the Carousel Lounge, a waterpark and the Yacht Club. Bellissima adds the indoor Grand Canyon pool; no sliding-roof pool is documented on either hull. A notch older than the Plus ships but still large, modern and family-capable, and often a strong value in the Mediterranean.

The honest read: Match the ship to the climate. Seaside EVO shines in the sun; Meraviglia's covered promenade is the better bet where the weather is mixed.

Food & entertainment

MSC's Italian heritage shows up on the plate, and its entertainment leans on spectacle — the LED-domed Galleria, original acrobatic productions, and robots — designed to work for an international, multilingual audience.

Food

Included — the real highlight is authentic Italian-style pizza, made fresh and available nearly all day, plus the main dining room and buffet. The pizza and casual bites are genuinely good; the main dining room is more variable, and the buffet serves a broad international crowd.

Specialty (for a fee) — a solid lineup including Butcher's Cut (steakhouse), Kaito (sushi & teppanyaki), Hola! tacos, and chef-partnered venues on the newest ships. Good, but MSC isn't a food-first line — set expectations around the pizza and specialty rather than the main dining room.

Entertainment

Signature spectacle — the Galleria's giant LED sky-dome, original acrobatic productions in the Carousel Lounge on several Meraviglia-class ships, a humanoid robot bartender, waterparks, F1 simulators and bowling on the newer ships.

Production shows are often non-verbal or multilingual so they play to an international audience — polished and visual, but a different feel from the dialogue-heavy Broadway productions on some U.S. lines. As always, the specific ship matters — check what yours offers.

The Yacht Club, cabins & experience levels

Two things you need to understand before booking MSC: the Yacht Club (its standout premium product) and the "experience levels," which are booking bundles — not loyalty tiers.

MSC Yacht Club

The Yacht Club is MSC's keycard-access "ship-within-a-ship" at the front of the upper decks: a private lounge, restaurant, pool and sundeck, 24/7 butler and concierge service, thermal spa access, included premium drinks (where applicable), Wi-Fi, and the exclusive Ocean House Beach on Ocean Cay — an extensive set of privileges, though not literally everything is included. We consider it one of the strongest ship-within-a-ship concepts at sea, and it's what lifts MSC's couples and luxury ceiling well above its mainstream base.

Just note: the Yacht Club is a premium enclave, not a separate luxury line. For a full luxury experience, MSC's sister brand is Explora Journeys.

Experience levels & cabins

Bella — the lowest fare; cabin assigned by MSC, fewest extras.
Fantastica — greater cabin-selection flexibility, plus added benefits like complimentary breakfast delivery to your cabin.

MSC offers accessible staterooms across the fleet, and the newer, larger ships generally have the strongest access infrastructure — which is why the line scores solidly here. But this fleet spans hulls from the early 2000s to 2025, so accessible-cabin counts, venue access, and tender-vs-dock arrangements vary widely by ship and itinerary.

MSC Voyagers Club, status match & Kids Sail Free

MSC Voyagers Club is the loyalty program — free to join, with tiers from Classic up through Silver, Gold, Diamond and the newer top-tier Blue Diamond, earning points by fare type, cruise length and onboard spend.

Status match is a genuine differentiator: MSC will match your existing tier from many eligible cruise, hotel and travel loyalty programs, so you can start with perks before your first MSC sailing (a one-time request; approval and matched perks depend on MSC's current program rules). Add Kids Sail Free promotions on select sailings and often-lower base fares, and MSC becomes one of the strongest value plays in the market — just confirm exactly what's included and what carries a charge for your sailing.

One thing that makes MSC genuinely cheaper than it looks: MSC includes gratuity in the price it quotes for drinks and dining packages, where the other major lines add 18–20% at checkout. Private destinations

MSC's Bahamas story is unusual — a conservation-minded island today, with a second, quieter island on the way. Treat this as a snapshot and confirm details for your sailing.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve (Bahamas) Active

A former industrial sand-dredging site restored by MSC into a marine reserve, with eight beaches — each with its own character — plus a family beach (Seakers Cove), a 100-foot lighthouse with a nightly light-and-music show, and — on select itineraries — an extended evening or overnight stay so you can enjoy the island after dark. Most food is included at buffets and food trucks; drinks and some activities are extra. MSC's Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries generally include Ocean Cay, though itineraries can change. A round of enhancements — more dining, new family and adult beach zones, and expanded conservation experiences — is due by late 2027.

Ocean House Beach Yacht Club only

A private beach exclusively for Yacht Club guests, with its own restaurant and bar, beachfront cabanas, butler service and complimentary amenities — the island counterpart to the onboard Yacht Club.

Sandy Cay Opens 2028

Announced in April 2026, Sandy Cay is a second private island right next to Ocean Cay — but a deliberately different experience. Named for its pristine aragonite sand and carrying its own marine-reserve designation, it's being built as a smaller, quieter, more upscale "elemental escape" with fewer built attractions, shared by MSC Cruises and its luxury sibling Explora Journeys. Think seclusion over stimulation. For now only a name, renderings and a 2028 window are confirmed — verify before planning around it.

Conservation focus Ongoing

MSC positions both islands around marine restoration — coral programs, protected lagoon waters, and the MSC Foundation's education initiatives — which gives them a different feel from a pure waterpark destination.

Where MSC sails

MSC is a European line with a fast-growing U.S. presence. Deployments shift yearly, so read this as the durable pattern and verify your homeport and itinerary before booking.

Europe is the heart of the fleet — the Mediterranean (from Barcelona, Genoa, Marseille, Naples, Civitavecchia and more) year-round, plus Northern Europe, the fjords and the Baltic in summer. A signature quirk: many European itineraries let you embark at more than one port.

Caribbean & Bahamas runs from the U.S. — Miami (with MSC's own terminal), Port Canaveral and more — on the World, Seaside and Meraviglia ships, generally including Ocean Cay. New for 2026: MSC's first-ever Alaska season, seven-night round-trips from Seattle aboard MSC Poesia.
